Feature demonstrations
Six new features you can try right now.
Each section below is a working demonstration of functionality the Department of Emergency Management could add to this website. They use sample information so you can see exactly how the public would experience them.
Demo 01
Live emergency alert banner
A single banner at the top of every page that changes as conditions change — from routine monitoring, to a watch, to a warning, to the all-clear. Staff update it once and the whole website follows.
No active watches or warnings for Barbados. Conditions are being monitored.
Demo 02
Shelter finder
Instead of scrolling a long list, the public searches by name or parish and can filter for wheelchair-accessible shelters. Try it with the real 2026 Category 1 shelter listing.

Demo 03
Alert sign-up for the public
Residents choose their parish and the alerts they care about, then receive email or text notifications the moment DEM publishes them.
Demo 04
Public incident reporting
Residents report flooding, fallen trees, or damage straight from their phone. Each report gets a reference number and arrives in a dashboard DEM staff can review and assign.
Demo 05
Accessibility and language tools
Larger text, a high-contrast mode, and additional languages so that older residents, people with low vision, and visitors can all follow official guidance.
Know your nearest shelter before the storm.
Category 1 shelters open when the Department of Emergency Management issues the instruction. Bring your identification, medication, and a small bag of essentials for each family member.
Text scaling, high-contrast mode, and additional languages can be applied to every page of the site.
Demo 06
One combined news and social feed

What this means
EVERY FEATURE HERE CAN BE SHAPED AROUND DEM'S OWN PROCEDURES.
These demonstrations use sample information. In the live website they would connect to the Department's own alert wording, shelter listings, contact lists, and social media accounts — and staff would control all of it without writing any code.
These pages are demonstrations prepared by 3 W Solutions Barbados. No information entered here is stored or sent anywhere.
